EMILY COUGHLIN, LPCC

Emily believes that humans thrive in safe and collaborative relationships built on authenticity. She sees weakness as over-developed strength. When honed, the perceived weakness no longer interferes with an intentional, meaningful, and satisfying life. Emily offers education on the brain and body to demonstrate why we naturally experience discomfort in order to survive as humans. Her aim is to assist clients in establishing a symbiotic relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings so as to accept, re-process, and decrease distress. She favors acceptance and commitment and accelerated resolution therapies, integrating them with other modalities. Emily enthusiastically joins the client in investigating the puzzle pieces of the bigger picture, with a flair for trauma, eating disorders, impulsivity and controlling behaviors, interpersonal challenges, empowerment and more!
Emily has significant personal exposure to and appreciation for different life circumstances, contexts, and cultures. Overall, her clients say her goofy humor helps them bravely soften into vulnerability, and that they learn a lot.
