Karen is warm, compassionate, and insightful.  She has been in private practice for over thirty years.  She believes that therapy can heal, help us cope with difficult issues, and allow us to learn about ourselves and our interactions with the world. As an Advanced Practice Nurse she has a holistic treatment approach in working with people who have issues with their mental health as well as those making significant life changes. She incorporates teaching into psychotherapy, giving people new knowledge and skills to be more emotionally present and live life more fully.

Karen provides individual psychotherapy services as well as couples and family therapy.  She also provides consultation services to organizations regarding management issues.

Specialties

  • EMDR.  Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing.  This is a unique therapy used to treat trauma, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), effectively and quickly

  • Life transitions, relationship issues, family of origin issues

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Complex PTSD

 
Karen holds a BA from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Masters in Nursing from the University of Minnesota.  She is also an approved EMDR provider.
