Kirby Nelson

DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Kirby Nelson is a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner serving adult patients, 16 years and older, experiencing mental health symptoms impacting their daily functioning. Kirby has experience treating anxiety, depression, bipolar, trauma, and perinatal mood disorders. She believes in a holistic, patient-centered approach to psychiatric care and utilizes evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment modalities.


Kirby graduated from the University of Minnesota Doctor of Nursing Practice program in 2015 and has worked as a psychiatric provider in outpatient integrated behavioral health settings. Kirby is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and Neuroscience Education Institute.


Outside of clinical practice, Kirby enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She finds contentment when biking on her cargo bike with kids in tow, exploring natural spaces, and drinking coffee while reading a good book.
