Patty Jo Herron
APRN, PMHCNS-BC
Patty Jo Herron, PMHCNS-BC, is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing with over 28 years of professional experience. She holds advanced education in holistic and integrative mental health, mind-body healing therapies, and functional nutrition, with specialized training in approaches such as DBT, ART, narrative therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Her background spans roles in public health, in-home family therapy, community mental health, and private practice, giving her a deep understanding of the diverse needs individuals bring to the healing process.
Patty Jo’s therapeutic philosophy centers on helping clients reconnect with their authentic selves. She believes that invalidating environments—whether within families or broader culture—often cause individuals to hide their true selves. Her work focuses on creating a safe, nurturing space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences while developing coping strategies that support growth rather than avoidance. By drawing on her nursing and health coaching expertise, Patty Jo integrates evidence-based therapies with lifestyle and mind-body practices to foster mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.
She works with individuals facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, and the stressors of modern life. In addition to therapy, she enjoys supporting clients in discovering authentic self-care practices and cultivating meaning, purpose, and joy in daily living. Outside of her clinical work, Patty Jo’s passions include exploring functional nutrition, psychoneuroimmunology, and spirituality. She also loves hiking and backpacking—especially on the North Shore and Superior Hiking Trail—and finds inspiration in books ranging from healing and philosophy to fantasy and magical realism.
