Key takeaways
Mental Health Challenge #10: Set Realistic Goals
In our countdown to World Mental Health Day, we wanted to save our favorite challenge for last. Our hope is that you will practice doing this today, tomorrow, and for the remainder of the year.
Today’s Challenge Is: Set Realistic Goals for Yourself. It sounds simple enough. But when set in motion, we all share the same tendency to pile on more tasks than necessary. And when we can’t complete each task, we start to feel guilty, useless, and stressed.
Mental Health Challenge #4: Unplug
After you read this post, we encourage you to sign off and go off the grid today. Well, not literally! But we challenge you to avoid checking your social media accounts, emails, text messages, etc.
Mental Health Challenge #5: Break Up the Monotony
Today, we challenge you to alter your drive into work today, or if you’re working from home, work in a different room if possible, take a different route on your afternoon walk, hang a new picture in your home or office, or plan a midday picnic with friends.
10 Day Mental Health Challenge
October 10th is World Mental Health Awareness Day. This is an opportunity to increase knowledge about mental health issues, reach out to those affected in our community, and practice some well-deserved self care for ourselves along the way. This year we wanted to present you with a fun challenge…well 10 fun challenges actually…that we hope will inspire you to take part in this year’s event.
Starting today until Saturday, October 10th, we’ll be posting one new challenge on Facebook that we encourage you to try yourself and with friends. The goal is to spread some good vibes in our social groups and help everyone get into the spirit of practicing healthy habits that benefit our mental health and wellness.
Mental Health Challenge #2: Play a Game
Welcome to day 2 of our 10 day mental health challenge. Ready to make today a great day? Here’s your next challenge: Play a Game “Play is the brain’s favorite way of learning”—Dianne Ackerman. Play allows us to master new skills, socialize with others, strategize, and strengthen our memory. Plan a game night with friends or family this weekend. It can range from board games, card games, virtual games, sports, outdoor recreation—you name it. Play a game and have fun while boosting your brain power. Remember to check back in tomorrow for our next daily challenge!
Mental Health Challenge #7: Rediscover the Magic of Fall Foliage
What a spectacular day we have before us! The leaves are changing, the air is cooler, and the bright fall colors are illuminating our streets. Take time today to appreciate nature and get outside to rediscover why fall is such a gorgeous time a year. Looking for fun fall ideas?
