Valerie Koski has worked with clients for many years to solve problems to create a better quality of life. Whether the mental or emotional disturbances are long term, or a more recent reaction to shifting circumstances, positive changes can be made. Envisioning what a person wants their life to look like, identifying the obstacles to achieving it, and establishing a plan to get there, are key to successful interventions. Doing this within the framework of holistic care, and consulting with other professionals as needed, is highly beneficial.
Valerie uses a variety of evidence-based therapeutic interventions for clients of all ages, and works with individuals, couples and families. Play therapy works well with children to understand what is troubling them. Art therapy can be used with children and adults to express emotions, trauma and cognitive beliefs in a non-verbal way. Those with ADHD benefit from using strength-based tools and psychoeducation.
Not only is Valerie experienced in a wide variety of counseling situations, but she also has several areas of advanced expertise. Her Master’s thesis was on identifying and treating spiritual abuse. She is a certified brain health coach, using targeted assessment tools to more effectively treat and diagnose mental and emotional health issues. Valerie led a support group for women in codependent relationships. She established and ran an abuse recovery program for women. She is also certified to provide care within the context of Christian counseling if a client desires.
In her free time, Valerie enjoys reading, travel, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family.
